The Board approved an ordinance authorizing a park reservation agreement between the Kearney R‑1 School District and the city to host a color fun run on the Jesse James Park Trail, with the school providing liability insurance as required.
Parks staff (presenter introduced as Eric Marshall) said the run would take place on Saturday, May 3 for Kearney Elementary School and confirmed the district's liability coverage was on file. The motion to approve the reservation agreement passed unanimously on second reading.
Separately, staff announced the city's amphitheater concert series for the summer: shows are scheduled for Friday, June 13 (a Hall & Oates tribute), Thursday, July 3 (timed before fireworks), Saturday, July 12 (Motown tribute) and Saturday, August 16 (a Waylon Jennings tribute). Staff said doors open at 6:30 p.m. and shows begin at 7:30 p.m., running about 90 minutes; the city will post information about performers and tickets on the event website.
