Kirkland adopts FY2026–27 meeting schedule and proclaims May as Motorcycle Awareness Month

Trustees approved the Village of Kirkland Fiscal Year 2026–2027 Board of Trustees meeting schedule, Planning & Zoning meeting dates and the paid-holiday schedule at the April 6 meeting. The schedules will take effect for the fiscal year beginning in May 2026 and committees were instructed to begin budget review work.
The board also approved a proclamation recognizing May 2026 as Motorcycle Awareness Month, noting ABATE of Illinois' work in motorcycle-safety education. The proclamation text states, "DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF MAY, THIS YEAR 2026 AS MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH IN THE VILLAGE OF KIRKLAND." President Ryan Block signed the proclamation during the meeting.
Trustees approved both items on voice votes with no recorded opposition. The meeting minutes show the Tree Committee also announced plans for an Arbor Day celebration on April 24 and that the Village received Tree City USA status for the fourth consecutive year.
