Mayor (speaker 1) used the announcements portion of the Aug. 11 meeting to share multiple community updates and event details: Central Creek Farmers Market runs the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. (including Aug. 19 and Sept. 2); veteran banners for display at John McCants Veterans Park will be sold and available for pickup at City Hall after November; Creekapalooza returns Sept. 19; and a backyard resiliency workshop is scheduled Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at Rollins Edwards Community Center in Summerville.
The mayor also updated residents on construction of the new Goose Creek Assembly multipurpose building next to City Hall, noting that grading of the west side near the hiker-biker trail will begin Thursday, "the trail will remain open for use during this time, but please use caution" and that workers will help direct trail users around active areas. City marketing assistant Mallory was introduced during the announcements.
The meeting included thanks to police-community events and a reminder that some new rules on e-bikes and scooters will be shared on social media.
