Sanilac County commissioners approve claims, budget amendments and multiple contracts; set several ballot questions

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine financial and contract items during its Feb. 3 meeting, including payment of current claims and several contract awards and ballot-language actions.
The board approved payment of current claims dated Jan. 27, 2026, in the amount of $107,763.07. It also adopted budget amendments and established accounts as presented. The board set the 9-1-1 millage renewal ballot language and directed the county clerk to submit the language for the Aug. 4, 2026 primary election.
Key procurement and contract approvals included: • Remonumentation contracts not to exceed $71,665 to monument 50 corners in 2026 (motion carried). • Parks equipment award to Tri County Equipment Inc. for purchases including two John Deere Z930M mowers and other equipment; total purchases not to exceed $59,272.70 funded by parks millage. • Electrical repairs at Forrester Park to Elite Electric at $21,828.14 with a 20% contingency, not to exceed $26,193.76. • Authorization to purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Express 15-passenger inmate transport van not to exceed $59,994 from GovMark (funded from the police vehicle fund with potential US Marshals reimbursement). • Approval of a five-year grant-writer contract for parks with John Frasier not to exceed $12,000 (payments of $6,000 June 1 and $6,000 Dec. 1), funded by the parks millage.
The board also authorized a one-year renewal of panic-button software (Rave Mobile Safety) for 9-1-1 central dispatch at a cost not to exceed $3,663.68, funded by the 9-1-1 millage.
