Board approves claims, budget amendments and $1.64M in additional payments

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 approved several finance actions, including payment of current claims and adoption of budget amendments and transfers reviewed by the finance committee.
A claims report dated Feb. 10 was read into the record showing a general-bank payment of $96,055.05. "For the general bank account, the amount of $96,055.05," was read aloud during the finance section of the meeting. The board approved that payment by voice vote.
Following that action the board adopted a package of budget amendments and appropriations (FA030-26) and then voted to approve additional general fund disbursements charged to January 2026 totaling $1,638,967.44 — $1,381,014.48 in ACH payments and $257,950.96 in checks. The motions were moved by finance leadership and carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Commissioners were reminded that many of the items had been reviewed by the finance committee prior to the meeting; the chair encouraged other commissioners to attend finance committee meetings for background detail. The actions will be reflected in the county’s accounting and monthly financial statements.
