Minocqua approves temporary closure of W. Park Avenue for July 4 fireworks viewing

The Minocqua Board of Supervisors approved a temporary closure of W. Park Avenue (from Highway 51 to Flambeau Street) for spectator viewing of the July 4 fireworks. The closure will begin at 6:30 p.m.; no-parking signs will be posted after the parade at about 5:00 p.m.
Pat Abraham, who requested the authorization on behalf of the sponsoring club, said the group would notify property owners in advance. "The club would take care of notifying the residents in advance," Abraham said. Board members discussed timing and methods of notification and agreed that the signs and advance notice should minimize disruption for residents.
The motion to approve the closing was made by Supervisor Brian Fricke and seconded by Supervisor Erika Petersen; the voice vote carried with Supervisor Billy Fried recorded as a nay. The closure applies only to spectator viewing for the fireworks; event organizers and town staff are responsible for posting signs and notifying affected residents ahead of the holiday.
