Finance staff told council the PEG/MCTV fund (paid largely by franchise fees from AT&T, Comcast and DIRECTV) will include an added $700,000 adjustment in FY2027 to pay for four new reader signs (marquees) at locations without current coverage. A staff speaker said the city has used PEG funds for reader signs before and will work with HOAs and neighborhoods on siting; the project will return to council for formal authorization before any funds are expended.
Council members asked to confirm fund-eligibility and to coordinate site selection with community associations; staff said it had consulted auditors on the restricted nature of PEG funds and would provide an FYI memorandum with locations and a future authorization request.
