The East Palo Alto City Council on Oct. 7 adopted a proclamation designating October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and invited representatives from CORA to describe local services. The proclamation cites county and national statistics and local service counts and was adopted as part of the consent calendar.
Representatives from CORA described programs that include a 24‑hour crisis hotline, free legal and mental‑health services, community education on healthy relationships and satellite clinics in East Palo Alto. ‘‘CORA stands by its name to engage in partnership with community in order to get this work done,’’ said Robin, CORA’s manager of prevention and community engagement. CORA staff said they handled 8,275 requests for service through their 24‑hour hotline and law‑enforcement referrals last year, provided community education to 2,378 adults and teens, and offered therapy to hundreds of adults and children in San Mateo County.
Council members thanked CORA for local outreach and noted earlier council allocations and collaborations with the police department to support crisis response and satellite services. CORA staff said their East Palo Alto satellite office is at 1848 Bay Road (the Renaissance Center, People’s Plaza) and that the hotline and walk‑in services remain available Monday–Friday with a 24/7 hotline for immediate crisis help.
The proclamation and presentation were adopted as part of consent calendar action approved by the council.
