Kure Beach building inspector advises leaving flood ordinance largely intact

At the April 1 meeting Building Inspector Bethany White told the Kure Beach Planning & Zoning Commission that the town uses a model ordinance for new-construction provisions and that the packet did not include an effective date for that language. White recommended the commission avoid making substantive changes to the Town's Flood Damage Preservation Ordinance.
White said she would research the effective-date issue under the "new construction" heading and provide that information for the record before the item moves to Town Council. No edits to the Flood Damage Preservation Ordinance were adopted at the P&Z level; the staff recommendation was to preserve the existing model-based language.
