Personnel Committee approves three Social Services backfills tied to homeless and Code Blue work

The Washington County Personnel Committee on Aug. 6 approved three backfill requests from the Department of Social Services. The committee voted to replace a Caseworker (vacated 8/19/26), a Community Services Worker in OFA/ADRC (vacated 7/14/26), and a Senior Social Services Examiner (vacated 7/26/26).
The DSS Commissioner told the committee he will be "evaluating the staffing pattern as they enter the fourth quarter" and described the Caseworker role as "a senior position that handles a lot of the code blue matters and is an important position." The committee adopted motions to backfill each role after brief discussion. For the Community Services Worker, the commissioner said the two OFA/ADRC positions do substantial transportation work and "[are] not impacted by new AI system," responding to a question from Mr. Skellie about an AI call center.
The motions were moved and seconded by committee members (Caseworker: moved by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Baker; Community Services Worker: moved by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Skellie; Senior Social Services Examiner: moved by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mrs. Clary) and were adopted. Several items noted an ongoing review of the DSS staffing pattern and related contracts (including Code Blue and Open Door support).
