Personnel Committee approves multiple departmental backfills, County Clerk staffing change and interim public works appointment

The Washington County Personnel Committee met Aug. 6 in Fort Edward and approved a series of personnel actions, including multiple backfill hires, a County Clerk staffing-pattern change and the appointment of an interim superintendent for Public Works.
The committee accepted minutes from July 9 and, after presentations by Personnel Officer Danelle LaPann and department representatives, unanimously adopted motions to backfill positions in Buildings & Grounds, the Treasurer’s Office, Social Services and the Veterans Office. County Clerk Lisa Boyce told the committee, “The Clerk’s Office has gone from 6 full-time employees to 4 full-time employees.” The committee also approved a staffing-pattern amendment in the County Clerk’s Office to remove one Clerk (Grade 7, $18.96 base) and add one Account Clerk (Grade 8, $20.32 base).
In executive-session business the committee then moved to appoint Jim Hogan as Interim Superintendent of Public Works and forward the appointment to the full Board; the motion carried with one recorded opposition by Mrs. Clary. The County Attorney asked whether the salary for the resolution would “be the base of the local law,” and the committee’s response was yes.
The committee adjourned at 10:33 A.M. and forwarded its recommendations to the full Board where required.
