The Glendale City Council approved an amendment to the city's design‑build agreement with Glendale Fire Systems Inc. to complete residual work on city facility fire‑system improvements.
Public Works staff explained the remaining scope includes installation of a fire suppression system in a radio room; staff recommended replacing the planned preaction sprinkler with a dry clean‑agent suppression system and relocating main supply piping to bypass the radio room to protect sensitive equipment. Councilmember Brotman moved the item and it passed by roll call.
"Public works department has been working on the fire system improvements project, which is almost complete," staff said, outlining the remaining scope and the recommendation for a dry clean‑agent system for the sensitive radio equipment.
The motion increased agreement number 8003204 by $98,453 with an added 10% contingency and included a resolution of appropriation to cover the extra funds. Council directed staff to return with any additional clarifications if requested.
