Ms. Warren presented a differentiated'instruction professional'development plan designed by 20 K'12 teachers and administrators, scheduled for Aug. 27 as a three'hour kickoff with three 45'minute sessions. "This PD came out of conversations with teachers saying we need to continue to improve our instructional practices in the general education classrooms," she said.
The three sessions will focus on universal design for learning (guided by Katie Novak's UDL framework), explicit modeling to provide consistent classroom language, and sensory processing strategies with practical teacher strategies. A pre'opening video will simulate classroom accessibility barriers and an end'of'session survey will inform ongoing PD during the school year via newsletters, short videos, or follow'up sessions depending on feedback.
