Dr. Amy Jenkins told the committee the curriculum office completed several initiatives over the summer and is beginning implementation for the school year. She highlighted K'5 science curriculum written by teachers (Mystery Science for K'2; Twig for grades 3'5) and said teacher manuals and student workbooks have been delivered and online access will begin Aug. 17.
Jenkins also described a planned change for 6th'grade social studies: in 2027'8 the district will move 6th grade to ancient history (ancient Rome, Mesopotamia) and will identify curricular resources to support that shift. She described a major math initiative covering K'512 to review the Standards Aligned System and identify gaps and resources the district will need. Jenkins said these efforts comprise a broad roadmap with many underlying subprojects and multiple professional'development touchpoints during the year.
