The committee heard an overview of the annual BVA (UCFVA) contract that will be on the board agenda for a vote next Monday. Dr. Amy Jenkins said the contract is "pretty much the standard contract that we have each year," with one addition: a welfare/health check for students who are absent under the BVA program.
Dr. Jenkins provided enrollment counts to illustrate current program size: for the 2025'6 school year she said there were 32 students enrolled at Unionville High School, 23 students who attended Technical College High School (TCHS) for at least one course, 4 students at Patton Middle School and 1 elementary student enrolled for one semester. For the 2026'7 school year she said current enrollments were 7 at Unionville High and 9 at TCHS, and she anticipated numbers would rise as the school year approached.
Committee members asked whether trends stemmed from post'COVID changes in family choices and discussed the program as a potential pathway to bring cyber'school students back into Unionville's diploma track. No vote was taken at the committee level; the contract will be considered by the full board.
