Mr. York, a consultant working with the board on the superintendent search, presented results from community and staff surveys and told the board that "you received a 113 responses to the community survey, 58 responses to the staff survey." He said 47 community respondents and 23 staff members also submitted written comments for the board's review.
The consultant said respondents showed "an exceptionally high level of agreement" on the top characteristics they want in a new superintendent. He read a consolidated top-10 list that included "high standards of integrity," the ability to "provide safe environments for students and staff," experience with school finance and budgets, the ability to advocate for resources, and strong communication across races and socioeconomic status. The presentation emphasized the overlapping priorities of community and staff.
The board will use the survey results and the draft leadership profile generated from them as part of the application review and interview stages. The consultant said redacted written comments and the survey summary will be posted for public view and that the board will receive assembled application materials and a separate email with applicant counts on the application-deadline day.
