The committee reviewed proposed edits to Section 3-2 governing terms of office and staggered terms. Katie presented a simplified version intended to remove old dates while keeping the mathematical mechanism for staggered four-year terms intact. "We do need to have some reference to dates just because of the staggered terms, but I do think that the revised or proposed language simplifies it significantly," Katie said.
Members generally welcomed the condensed wording and agreed to keep key reference dates as anchors so the staggered-term math remains computable in perpetuity. The revised language will be circulated in the next packet for final review before any formal recommendation is made to council.
