Jenny said the parcel "has been continuously used for industrial purposes" and recommended changing the designation to heavy industrial (I-2) to avoid regulatory conflicts and align with the comprehensive plan.
Commission discussion focused on whether rezoning would alter day-to-day operations. One committee member said, "They've been using it for decades anyhow that way," and Jenny confirmed no new development or permitting changes were required and that staff received no opposition during outreach. A motion to approve the rezoning carried on a voice vote.
The action corrects the county map and, according to staff, preserves permit consistency and enforcement clarity. The commission did not discuss specific conditions or amendments to the rezoning during the vote; staff will implement map changes and advise how the change is recorded in county permitting systems.
