Supervisor to deliver meals after county pauses Johnsburg meal site until January

The town's supervisor told the board that the county Office for the Aging had notified the town the local meal site would not operate again until January. The supervisor said the notice arrived with little lead time and that, to avoid service interruptions, they would travel to Warrensburg to pick up meals and deliver them to the site on Tuesdays and Thursdays until a new site operator is found.

"I received an email, phone call on Friday and an email subsequent to that phone call from Dee Parks, who was the director of office of the aging. And, was notified that starting today, the meal site was not gonna be open until next January... I will be going to Warrensburg, picking up the meals, bringing them back to the meal site, and making sure that anybody that wants to have a meal at the meal site can do so," the supervisor said. Board members discussed volunteers, dietary protocol constraints and the social role of the site; they asked the senior committee to continue pursuing a longer-term solution.
