Board adopts updated purchasing policy to align with new state financial thresholds

On second reading the board approved updates to policy DJE (bidding and purchasing procedures) to align district thresholds with the USFR and to codify additional procurement practices and cooperative-purchasing due diligence.
Superintendent Lautzenheiser explained why the change was proposed: “The USFR has changed, and so now it's up to 15,000,” and administration recommended that the district follow the USFR threshold moving forward to avoid repeated policy changes. The updated policy also adds references to relevant Arizona Administrative Code procurement rules and a statement that certain reporting and compliance questionnaires will be followed during audits.
Board members and procurement staff reviewed the changes and noted that regulations will include additional details and that administration will prepare a report summarizing procurement actions below the written-quote threshold if the policy is approved. The board approved the DJE policy on a 4–0 vote.
