Committee seeks ARPA funds to mail childcare survey for Johnsburg and neighboring towns

The board heard an update on a proposed two-stage childcare survey intended to quantify need across Johnsburg, Indian Lake and Minerva. The committee described a short mailer postcard survey to be followed by a pared-down second survey and said the goal is to present findings and a resolution in September to use ARPA funds to pay for the mailer and any reasonable survey costs.
"So the 1st round would be just to collect data to see who actually needs childcare and pushing it out not just to Johnsburg but to Indian Lake and also to Minerva," Marketing committee member (S2) said, describing outreach scope and the plan to adapt an existing broadband-survey approach. The committee said it has consulted Adirondack Foundation and other partners, plans to work with the Southern Adirondack Child Care Network on business-plan development for potential child-care sites, and will seek board authorization for ARPA-funded mailers and potential follow-up costs. Next steps: the committee will refine the survey, consult with partner organizations and return with a September presentation and possible ARPA resolution request.
