Board leaves per diem policy unchanged, considers Weed Board appointments; PREA audit scheduled

The Board reviewed several governance and administrative items and elected to keep the existing per diem policy in place after legal clarification. Sandy Fossum told commissioners that under the North Dakota Century Code, if a meal is included in a registration fee the applicable per diem allowance for that meal cannot be claimed; after the clarification the Board did not revise the county's per diem policy.
Commissioner Terry Goerger said he has three individuals interested in Weed Board seats for Districts 2, 3 and 4 and will bring a proposal for how to proceed to the Township Officer Meeting on April 15. Sheri Ruhl also reported that the PREA audit for the Wilkin County Jail is scheduled for the end of April. The Board briefly noted HB1213 and that Ruhl and Goerger had testified earlier in the legislative session in support of the bill.
No formal policy changes were adopted at the March 18 meeting; the items were advanced as administrative follow-ups and calendared events.
