RCHD reports program growth, staffing strain and a new grant in planning

Richland County Health Department staff provided a multi‑program update at the Feb. 28 Board of Health meeting, reporting growth in some services, grant activity and operational strain. The Clinic Resource Center reported 415 visits and 432 clients during open enrollment; staff said clients saved an average of about $700 per person. Footcare visits have increased and rural clinic sites were added to meet demand.
Staff said a Prevention and Family Support (PFS) grant worth approximately $130,000 per year for four years is in the planning stage and that coordination with the state remains ongoing before implementation starts. Home Health completed a medication‑set audit and had its license renewed with no survey deficiencies; however, two staff members are on extended leave, leaving the department "stretched extremely thin." RCHD was also nominated for the Annual Business Award from the Wahpeton/Breck Chamber.
