County awards drain tile, overlay and seal-coat contracts totaling millions; reports $4.8M Prairie Dog allotment

At the bid opening for CR 1 & CR 3 drain tile, bids included Apex Drainage of Glyndon, MN at $456,405.75 (listed as $3.55/ft), Red Rock Tiling & Excavating at $610,683.75, and others; the Board voted to accept the bids. Rogge Excavating of Ghent, MN was the low bidder for gravel crushing and was awarded the work. For CR 1, 8, 8E, 10N and 23 seal coat, Morris Seal Coat and Trucking submitted the low bid ($881,070.33) and was awarded the project; overlay bids resulted in Mark Sand and Gravel being the low bid at $2,005,315.61 and awarded the overlay contract. Jesse Sedler also reported that "the Prairie Dog allotment was received last Friday, it will be approximately $4.8 million," providing a funding context for county road work.
Sedler noted Interstate Engineering was the only firm to submit a proposal for box culvert engineering in Fairmount and Lamars Township and that Damon DeVillers was interviewed; the Board awarded Interstate Engineering as engineer for the box culvert projects. The Board recorded the awards and acceptance of bids as unanimous votes throughout the highway agenda items.
