Rodriguez‑Ross said she was concerned about adopting “untested technology and acquiring recurring costs.” City Manager Cliff Keheley responded that staff had “performed extensive research into the use of the proposed equipment and received demonstrations” and that other cities have deployed the technology, which would allow the city to reduce staff workload while maintaining more drainage channels annually. Councilmember Kenny Green moved approval; the motion was seconded by Jeff Casper and carried with votes recorded as Green, Casper, Alemán, Hubacek and Murden voting yes and Rodriguez‑Ross voting no.
