Richland County approves advertising for highway bids, splits overlay projects

The Richland County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 4 approved motions to advertise for engineering and construction bids for several highway projects, including box culvert engineering RFPs for LeMars and Fairmount Townships and a split overlay approach that separates County Road 81 and County Road 22 from County Road 3.
Engineer Jesse Sedler told the Board the split would allow the county to bid Co Rd 81 and Co Rd 22 together, with Co Rd 3 bid as a separate project. A motion "to advertise for bids for Engineering RFP" was made by Commissioner Nathan Berseth and seconded by Commissioner Perry Miller; the motion carried unanimously. Sedler also asked to advertise bids for gravel crushing, culverts, seal coat and equipment rental for 2025, and the Board approved advertising for all highway projects after Sedler revised the planned drain tile work.
