Washington County Commissioner’s Court handled several routine actions on Aug. 11, approving donations, appointments, bonds, an election order and accounts payable.
The court accepted a $300 donation from Burton Friends and Neighbors Inc. to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, earmarked for the Citizens on Patrol program; the sheriff’s representative described the gift as community support. The court then approved the official bond for reserve deputy Eric Marmol and welcomed him to the department. "We are super excited that he has chosen to bring his skills and talents here to serve the citizens of Washington County," the sheriff's representative said.
The court approved the appointment of David Blakey as a reserve deputy constable with the Washington County Precinct 1 constable’s office and approved his official bond. Commissioners also approved an order of election to be held Nov. 3, 2026, as recommended by the Texas Secretary of State, and approved July 2026 meeting minutes with corrections. Finally, the court approved accounts payable totaling $291,322.17.
All these motions were made, seconded and carried by voice vote during the meeting.
