County OKs Expo rental rules, hosts pilot CDL training with local partners

The Commissioner’s Court approved pending Washington County Expo rental regulation contracts and accepted a proposed pilot CDL training program that will combine classroom instruction hosted by the City of Brenham with driver training at county facilities.
Mister Williams (speaker 11) described the partnership as involving Ancor, Prairie View A&M Extension Economic Development and Dr. Tina Henderson, with the city hosting classroom components and the county providing space for driver training. He said the program will run through the end of the year as a pilot and that Ancor has agreed to sponsor a slot for a county employee to earn a CDL. "They're gonna do this as a pilot program, and we're really excited to be able to be part of something to bring this needed training back to Washington County," Williams said.
Court members discussed timing and agreed to revisit the program in 2027. A motion to approve the rental contracts was made and seconded and the court carried the motion by voice vote.
Next steps: county staff will return with any contract finalizations and a report after the pilot period.
