Cherry Valley adopts multiple personnel and parking ordinances; first readings set for staffing changes

Trustee Nancy Belt led a series of ordinance actions on Oct. 7 that the board approved by roll call, each recorded as a 6-0 vote. Actions included second and final readings and passage of ordinances amending Chapter 2 (Administration: officers and employees), amendments to the Personnel Policy Manual Section 6.7 (Social Media at Work) and Section 4-3 (Cell Phones), and an amendment to Chapter 70 (Traffic and Vehicles) addressing parking of nonmotorized vehicles, trailers, boats and outside parking of commercial vehicles in residential districts (Ordinance 2025-35).
Trustee Belt also presented first readings for ordinances to amend Chapter 2 to create or define a part-time desk receptionist position and a full-time administrative assistant position; those items were advanced as first readings with no final vote recorded on Oct. 7. All recorded votes for final readings and adoptions were unanimous, 6-0.
Why it matters: these changes alter internal personnel rules and local parking regulations that affect staff conduct, employee equipment use and neighborhood parking enforcement. The first readings for staffing changes signal potential additions to village personnel that would affect budget and duties if later approved.
