Village Administrator Jim Claeyssen and Interim Public Works Director Andy Wesseln briefed the committee on IDOT District 2’s planned 2026 construction along W. State Street to US-20/Harrison Ave. They said South Mill Road will be reduced to single-lane traffic (north and south) for the majority of the summer while resurfacing work occurs. The staff briefing noted that all blacktop will be removed and replaced from W. State Street to US-20 "at no cost to the village."
Staff also explained that planned changes to IDOT’s US-20 project required adjustments to the Mill Road watermain alignment; easement discussions with landowners remain underway. Trustees were informed of potential traffic and access impacts for the construction season and were told staff is coordinating plan changes with IDOT.
