The St. Charles County Council on July 27 authorized the submittal of a 2026–2030 Consolidated Plan and accepted $1,088,014 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through the St. Louis Home Consortium under Bill No. 5509, which passed on a 6–1 roll call vote.
During the public hearing on the Consolidated Plan, O'Fallon resident Arnie Dienoff urged consolidation opportunities with the City of O'Fallon and called for more resources focused on senior wellness checks, transportation services and assistance for the county's growing unhoused population. Kathryn Becker, a county resident, also commented, urging the council to be thoughtful about distributing government funding across programs and asking for equitable consideration of homeschooling-related needs.
The CDBG award — $1,088,014 — was explicitly authorized in the ordinance language. Council recorded the vote as yes from Swanson, Brazil, Elam, Hammond, York and Baker; Hollander was absent.
