Board endorses MnDOT safety plan to convert TH 62/CSAH 5 to all-way stop

Stephen Schnieder, interim county engineer, told the board that MnDOT is proposing to install stop signs on TH 62, additional signing, rumble strips, and street lights at the intersection with County State-Aid Highway 5. Schnieder said MnDOT would pay all costs associated with converting the intersection to an all-way stop but that Cottonwood County would be responsible for maintaining signing and rumble strips, paying electricity for the lights, and maintaining or replacing lights if damaged.
Commissioners gave consensus support for MnDOT’s proposed safety improvements. Schnieder said he intends to bring a drafted contract to the board for a formal motion and vote once details and agreements are finalized.
