Emily Archer, recently confirmed as the permanent economic development director, presented highlights from the authority’s annual report covering the fiscal year ending June 30. Archer told the board the EDIP program issued just over $2.2 million in incentive grants that attracted more than $107 million in capital investment; staff reported what the presentation identified as about 807 jobs retained and 363 jobs created tied to those incentives. Other highlights included facade improvement and Atlantic Avenue grant totals, inaugural events at the Dome and the Taste of the Vibe, and four notable international company landings in the incubator.
"Our EDIP program is our main incentive to retain and grow," Archer said while summarizing the report and noting the board must file the report to council by Aug. 31. The board acknowledged Archer’s promotion from interim to permanent director and heard no requested revisions to the summary slides presented at the meeting; staff said the full report will be sent to council as required.
