Council OKs engineering contract, storm‑sewer bids and city equipment disposal

At the Sept. 22 meeting the council approved several capital and procurement items. Members authorized an engineering services agreement with Charleston Engineering Inc. for the North Avenue reconstruction project after a brief presentation of detailed plans. The council accepted bids for materials for the Eastgate Subdivision storm‑sewer work — piping supplies for $27,514.04 and precast concrete for $34,711 — with staff noting precast delivery could take six to seven weeks.
The council also resolved to donate or allow removal of a decommissioned HVAC unit from city hall to the contractor who replaced it, and approved purchase of a 2024 Ford Explorer all‑wheel‑drive for the police department. Each item passed on motion.
