Council reviews history of two oil leases on the parcel; both were plugged decades ago

The chair told the council the parcel under discussion has two historical oil leases. One lease dated to the 1950s and was bought around 1952 and reportedly plugged in 1953 or 1954; a second lease was drilled in about 1983 or 1984 and was plugged in 1984, the chair said.
"There were 2 oil leases. 1 in the fifties that was bought '52 that was plugged in '53 or '4, and 1 that was drilled in '83 or '4, and it was plugged in '84," the chair said. He added that Silver Connect had questions about the leases and the city had answered those questions to the company's satisfaction.
