Public Health reports jail STS testing, 71 TB screenings and explores district option

A Public Health representative reported that "Mandatory STS testing will start at the jail, tests will be supplied by a state grant." The department said it performed 71 TB screenings last year and that its Community Resource Coordinator continues to assist more residents with Medicare enrollment.
The representative noted that a tobacco tax increase should bring additional state funding and that staff member Kayla Carlson is gathering information about the possibility of creating a Public Health District to bring services and funding together at a regional level. The Board received the report and asked staff to return with additional information as it becomes available.
The report was delivered as part of the committee updates section of the agenda and drew no formal vote.
