Todd Martin, the town's highway superintendent, told the board the road maintenance program would start Aug. 12 (weather permitting) on East Fauquil Road, Woodley, Oak Grove and Alan Road, with subsequent work on Pumpkin Lane and Lake Drive. He described the surfacing method as a rubber emulsion spray, followed by 6–8 inches of carbon fiber and a 0.25-inch stone cover, and said crews return two weeks later to sweep the surface.
Martin acknowledged recent storms and flash flooding have left numerous downed trees scattered across town, and said Central Hudson must clear trees with wires before highway crews can safely remove them. He warned the public to expect intermittent delays and noted Dutchess County New York State salt prices will rise by about $8–$10 per ton this year.
