Luke Hahn, president of the Richland County Soccer Association, asked the Olney City Council for help finding new land after the college’s plan to start collegiate soccer will displace the association after the 2026 or 2027 seasons. Hahn said the group needs roughly 12–15 acres to host multiple youth fields and support tournaments and that it currently has a $75,000 donation plus equipment (an automatic GPS field liner).
Council members discussed potential city-owned parcels, Musgrove Park capacity and environmental concerns at a former waste site near a proposed industrial-park property. The council asked staff to help evaluate options and indicated willingness to work with the association on siting, planning and fundraising. Hahn said the association estimates about $200,000 in field preparation and amenities (excluding land purchase), and he prefers to identify a site before soliciting major donations.
Representative quote: "We need, ideally, we would like about 15 acres that would get us 4 U-ten fields, 3 U-twelve fields, and 2 U-fourteen or U-eighteen fields," Hahn said.
