Lansing HRC reports $1,102 shortfall, asks village for help and vows tighter planning

Chairperson McDaniels told the Village of Lansing Human Relations Commission on Feb. 12 that the commission’s operating budget showed a deficit of $1,102.00 for expenditures covering Juneteenth through the MLK event.
"The budget is currently at -$1,102.00 (from Juneteenth to the MLK Event)," McDaniels said, and explained that the Village has agreed to help cover those costs. He asked commissioners to plan expenses more efficiently and earlier in the next fiscal year to avoid similar shortfalls.
Commissioners did not propose specific line-item cuts during the meeting. The budget note appeared as part of the chair’s remarks and financial report; the commission’s next regular meeting was identified as the time to lay out a more detailed plan for next fiscal year budgeting.
