The Kensington Select Board voted to sign the municipal lease agreement for a 2026 police cruiser and authorized Chief Scott Kane to complete and execute the associated leasing paperwork. Chief Kane said the department uses the cruiser revolving fund to manage vehicle purchases and often pays leases early to reduce the number of active lease payments.
"I will make the motion to sign the allied certificate municipal agreement for the 2026 police cruiser," a select board member said; later the board moved to authorize "Chief Scott Kane to complete and execute all these documentation and accept the vehicle." The board approved both motions by voice vote. The chief reported the vehicle has been received and is being outfitted; staff will finalize the lease paperwork and legal counsel will sign sections as required.
The cruiser will be paid through the revolving fund with the expectation that lease payments and available fund balances will cover the agreement; the chief noted that buying vehicles outright can require large upfront cash and that revolving funds help smooth costs.
