Commissioners Preserve Cattleman I Solar Abatement, Table Other Solar Amendments
Summary
Milam County Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 26 to retain the tax abatement for the Cattleman I Solar Park (EDP Renewables) and table amendments for two Pinegate Renewables projects; no action was taken on a Nextera Energy storage amendment.
Milam County Judge Bill Whitmire and the five-member Commissioners Court considered multiple solar tax-abatement items during a public hearing that opened at 10:04 a.m. and closed at 10:05 a.m. No members of the public spoke.
Commissioner James Denman moved to leave in place (not revoke) the tax abatement for the Cattleman I Solar Park LLC (EDP Renewables); the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Wesley Payne then moved to table proposed amendments to the BT Jungmann, LLC and Gransolar Texas One, LLC tax-abatement agreements (both associated with Pinegate Renewables); that motion carried unanimously. The court took no action on the proposed amendment for Yaupon Solar Energy Storage, LLC (Nextera Energy Resources).
The items were heard together in the public-hearing portion of the meeting. The court did not receive public comment on these items during the hearing. The tabled amendments will return on a future agenda for additional consideration.
