The Common Council voted to approve Option 1 for the Greenfield Park playground replacement after Parks Commission review and neighborhood input. Staff said three proposals met minimum qualifications, the Parks Commission and a neighborhood vote favored Option 1, and the selected design includes more climbing features and internal ramps to improve accessibility.
Parks staff said the project is budgeted in the 2026 CIP and estimated construction removal of the existing playground and installation of the new equipment with an anticipated completion in October. “Option 1 is what was recommended for approval,” the presenter said, noting the neighborhood input was split but that Option 1 offered denser play features and internal ramps that are more accessible than stairs. The council carried the resolution.
