Board tables several policy sections and hears teachers association comment; adoption date set for March 26

The board voted to table discussions on policy sections 5,000 and 3,000 and to table second readings of policy sections 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000. At the close of the meeting the chair asked for motions to table specific policy items. A motion "to table our discussions on policy sections 5,000 and 3,000" was moved by Mrs. Martin and seconded by Dr. Balachander; the chair called for assent and recorded the motion as carried. The board also moved to table second readings for policy sections 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000; those motions were moved by Mr. Citron, seconded by Mr. Jin and called in favor by the chair.
During the public-comment portion, Mike Hartnett of the Jericho Teachers Association offered remarks acknowledging recent losses in the community and urging continued support for students and staff: "In these difficult times, we are committed to providing spaces where students feel comfortable and safe in their own skins," Hartnett said. The meeting adjourned after motions to adjourn were moved and seconded and the chair confirmed the next meeting and the March 26 adoption date for the budget.
