Council weighs bulk water filling stations and billing approach

During the July 27 special meeting AE2S Engineer Hanson and Utility Manager Kurt Neidermeier outlined the operational benefits and billing mechanics of installing a bulk water filling station. Hanson said the filling station and bulk water meters offer clear advantages to operations and tracking, and Neidermeier reviewed the proposed billing process for bulk water fills.
Council members asked how bulk fills would affect demand and rates. Neidermeier cautioned that demand calculations are difficult "with the population growth as the demand will continue to increase; noting the importance of lower usage." The council did not adopt a decision at this session and asked staff to include bulk water options and billing details when the plant financing returns to the August agenda.
