Lincoln Parish finance committee advances most 2026 funding recommendations; museum, public defender items tabled

Acting Chair Dan Lord convened the Lincoln Parish Finance Committee on Oct. 14, 2025, where committee members reviewed multiple 2026 budget requests and approved the majority of recommended funding levels.
Chris Garriga moved to approve the meeting agenda, and Matt Pullin seconded; “Chris Garriga offered a motion, seconded by Matt Pullin, to approve the Agenda as presented.” The motion carried with YEAS from Lord, Pullin, Garriga and Richards. The committee then considered a list of nonprofit and county department requests and took individual votes on each line item.
Most funding levels were maintained at their prior-year amounts. Notable increases approved by unanimous vote included the LSU Extension Service (raised to $27,500) and the Lincoln Parish Health Unit (raised to $33,200). The Registrar of Voters budget was also raised to $58,800. Two items were tabled for further consideration: the Lincoln Parish Museum and the Public Defenders Office. The museum request was explicitly tabled "until next month’s meeting." The meeting concluded with a motion by Matt Pullin to adjourn, seconded by Chris Garriga; the motion carried.
The meeting record shows two instances of a recorded NAY by Diane Richards on funding for the Third Judicial District Court and the Lincoln Parish District Attorney; otherwise most actions were unanimous. No public comments were offered during the meeting.
