The Marlin City Council on Oct. 15 approved a 15% contingent-fee contract with Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott, LLP to collect delinquent property taxes under Texas Property Tax Code §6.30. John Banks of the firm addressed the council about the services the company provides.
Council then authorized the mayor to send a Notice of Termination of Attorney–Client Relationship to the city's existing tax collections firm. Both motions carried unanimously with all councilmembers voting in favor. The contract rate — a 15% contingency fee — was the specific financial term recorded in the meeting minutes.
The actions followed administrative updates earlier in the meeting about court collections for the reporting period: gross collected $41,940.82, state fees $14,189.86 and $27,750.96 retained by the city. Council did not record additional conditions or amendments to the Perdue contract in the meeting minutes.
