Committee presses consultant language to state projects will include public outreach

Members of the Mobility Planning and Coordination Committee spent a substantial portion of the meeting asking the consultant and staff to tighten language in the draft street design guide so it makes explicit that project-level public engagement will still occur.
Several committee members said the existing preamble reads too generically and risks being interpreted as prescriptive guidance. One member suggested adding a sentence in section 1.1 to acknowledge the town’s separate communication framework and to state that individual projects will have their own public-notification and outreach processes. Tyler (staff) told the committee that public engagement formats were intentionally outside the consultant’s scope because the town is developing a separate framework; members nevertheless favored an explicit acknowledgment in the guide that project-level outreach will occur.
