The council voted April 7, 2026 to hold a called meeting on May 13, 2026 for the purpose of canvassing the votes from the May 2 special election on charter amendments. City Secretary Michelle Wiese advised the council that the canvass must occur within ten days following the election; the deadline precedes the next regular meeting on May 27.
Councilmember Jerretta Nance Pate moved to set the May 13 called meeting; Bryan Summerville seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Wiese reminded the council that, by statute, only two council members are required to constitute a quorum for a canvass of votes.
