Developer says he will revise Newport Trails plan to larger lots amid production-builder competition

Jeff Belier, the applicant for Newport Trails Phase 1, told the Lindale Planning and Zoning Board on March 9 that he can no longer compete with larger production builders currently building in town and proposed reconfiguring the subdivision from the previously platted 26 smaller lots into fewer, larger lots with larger homes completed in a single phase.
Board members — Terry Edwards, Paul Ray and Darrel Vidrine — voiced support for larger lots over smaller starter homes and advised Belier to resubmit his plat showing the proposed larger lots. No vote was taken; the item was discussed and the board provided direction to the applicant.
