Residents raise water availability and odor concerns; Council highlights community programs and New Year safety efforts

In special announcements preceding the forum, Councilmember Jeff Casper thanked the Police and Fire Departments for New Year safety efforts and reported enforcement results, saying officers "confiscated more than 46 pounds of fireworks, seized two firearms and made two arrests for discharge of a firearm," and that there were six DWI arrests but no accidents reported. Councilmembers also promoted upcoming events and programs, including Teen Turnout (Jan. 17), a Keep Mesquite Beautiful fundraiser (Jan. 22) and a Town Hall on Jan. 27 focused on Animal Services. Councilmember Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross urged donations to WARM, the Weather Activated Relief for Mesquite program.
